Ross Verry - Managing Director
Ross is Chief Executive of Syndex. Ross's previous role was General Manager, Agri for ANZ where he had responsibility for the development and implementation of Agri business strategy between 2011 and 2016. Prior to that, he held several senior Commercial Banking roles, including General Manager Corporate Banking and General Manager Specialist Businesses, roles that were focused on providing solutions, services and support for Privately-Owned and Family businesses.
Ross is a Chartered Accountant and member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.
He is currently a Director of THE Enterprises, a large scale, family owned dairy farming business, Gold Creek Farm Management and is a Trustee of Agri Womens Development Trust.
In his spare time he is heavily involved in the future of New Zealand cricket as the Chairman of the NZ Cricket Players Association.
Mike Jenkins - Executive Director
Mike Jenkins is a leader and operating executive, with over 25 years of experience in capital markets and software development. As an Executive Director at Syndex, Mike is responsible for the performance of the company and accountable for strategy, revenue, market share and customer satisfaction.
His primary goal is to build a successful business that not only creates value for buyers and sellers of proportionally-owned assets, but also stimulates growth and creates wealth for the wider New Zealand economy.
With a deep understanding of capital markets and a formative career as a software engineer with Oracle, Syndex is right in Mike’s sweet spot — giving him a strong, strategic vision of what needs to be created, and a real appreciation of how to deliver much needed private capital market infrastructure via platform-as-a-service technology.
Mike holds a BCom (Hons) degree in Finance from the University of Cape Town.
Michael Chatterley - Director
Mike is an entrepreneur and private equity investor, with a proven track-record in growing profitable businesses in the financial, transportation and tourism sectors. His background is finance and operations, and he has extensive experience in product and business development, acquisitions and divestitures, start ups and turnarounds.
With deep skills in change management and transforming businesses, Mike has formed, led and grown a range of companies including Ace Rental Cars, 360 Discovery and Tourism Enterprises.
Mike is Director of traffic management companies Action Traffic Control and Temporary Traffic Control. In just over eighteen months, he has more than doubled the size of Action Traffic Control, growing it from a 50 person company to a thriving business with over 100 people and a large fleet of 45 traffic management vehicles.
As Managing Director of Ace Rental Cars from 1997 to 2011, Mike grew the company from one office and 300 vehicles, to ten offices spanning Australasia with over 2,000 vehicles.
When he sold Ace to Hertz Corporation in 2011, it had achieved shareholder growth of seven times the original investment. Voted Best Value Rental Car Company by NZ Consumer Magazine and a category finalist for the Ernst Young NZ Entrepreneur of the Year Awards in 2002 and 2003, Hertz praised the Ace operation for its highly-reputable management team, first class attention to customers, advanced web-based sales platform and efficient cost structure based on strong operating and information systems.
Previously an investment banker, Mike is skilled at negotiations and commercial deal making. He held senior positions at Aetna Investment Management in Hong Kong during 1988 to 1994, starting as CFO, then Asia Group CFO, followed by COO of International Funds Management. He followed this with a stint as Finance and Operations Director for National Mutual Funds Management, also based in Hong Kong.
Desmond Scott - Chairman
Des is an entrepreneur, experienced company director, funds manager and investor, with skills in mentoring and growing successful international businesses.
Passionate about business and innovation, Des works with both the private and public sectors in research and development, commercialisation and growth across many industries including science, technology, intellectual property management and finance. Des facilitates and leads organisational start-ups, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures.
He has served as a non-executive director for numerous New Zealand listed and privately-held enterprises.
Des is the Chair of Action Traffic Control Ltd, New Zealand’s largest independent traffic management supplier, and also Chairs water and wastewater specialist, Filtration Technology Ltd (Filtec).
Past directorships include Salmon Smith Biolab Ltd, Industrial Research Ltd, DSIR and chairing the board for New Zealand Agritech Inc. for more than thirteen years. Des was a Director of BrainZ Instruments Ltd, Auckland Manufacturers Association and Technology for Business Growth.
As Managing Director of Tru-Test Limited from 1987-2009, Des led its transformation from a small agritech company to a large multinational manufacturing exporter with several international operating subsidiaries.
In 2009, Des formed boutique investment and merchant bank, Seymour Group Limited, which he continues to lead as Managing Director.
Des qualified with an MSc in Chemistry from the University of Auckland (1978). He was elected a Fellow of the Institute of Directors in 1994.
Jason Dunn - Head of Markets
Jason has over 20 years experience in investment banking, specialising in the management of back office support functions.
Jason’s most recent role was as Director and COO of a UK regulated broker-dealer responsible for developing systems and processes to consolidate operational, trading, settlement and regulatory obligations across a wide range of assets types, markets and jurisdictions in Europe and North America.
Jason sees his mission as the Head of Markets to be a fantastic opportunity to promote a fair, efficient and transparent market by raising the level, frequency and consistently of disclosure to investors in historically illiquid investments.
Mark Catley - Head of Technology
Mark's previous role was developing the user experience for borrowers at peer-to-peer lending company Harmoney where he had responsibility for the development and implementation of the borrower on boarding experience. Prior to that, he held roles managing a small team at an international SaaS company and developing medical devices. He has always been focused on improving software development teams and focusing on user experience and needs.
Mark has a Bachelor of Engineering (honours) and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Auckland.
Mark is an active person, and enjoy biking, the gym, and water sports in the summer, and skiing in the winter.
