The Furniss family owns Blueberry Country, New Zealand’s Largest Blueberry Orchard with 400 acres (160 hectares) currently in production. Blueberry Country is based in Ohaupo in the beautiful and fertile Waikato. It has also established Orchards in Ohaupo and Ngatea, and in Otautau (Southland).
The Furniss Family also founded BBC Technologies in 2000, which they grew into a leading global provider of precision grading systems for blueberries and other small fruits. In February 2018, the company was sold to Norwegian multinational TOMRA for NZD67million. TOMRA noted at the time that BBC Technologies “complements TOMRA’s own fruit inspection and grading technology portfolio. It also adds an innovative unique quality tracking system which TOMRA sees large value in offering to more customers alongside its other advanced developments in digital data solutions.”
The Furniss family have continued to invest in agribusiness, technology and early stage businesses with Greg taking an active involvement in governance.
